BLANTZ, ROBERT

1937 – 2024

Robert “Bob” Allen Blantz was a caring son, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at age 86 in the care of Bella Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.
Bob was born to Ralph and Dorothy Blantz on June 1, 1937, in Canton, Ohio. In 1955, Bob graduated from Washington High School in Massillon Ohio. He went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati. Immediately following Bob enlisted in the Navy, graduated from Officers Candidate School in Rhode Island, and served as a Lieutenant. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Yorktown and stationed in Long Beach California and Japan.

After retiring from the Navy, Bob worked as an accountant at the Burrows Corporation in Rochester, New York, then transferred to Birmingham, Michigan for the balance of his career. Upon retirement, Bob cared for his mother in her later years, then moved to Westerville, Ohio where he spent his later years.

Bob was a nature lover and an avid bird watcher. He was a long-time member of the National Audubon Society and Ducks Unlimited. Bob also loved to read and follow Massillon and Ohio State sports teams.

Bob is survived by his brother, William Blantz, sister, Sue (Charles) Pyles, and five nieces and nephews, Andrew Blantz, Andrea Blantz Vedder, Sally (Mark) Nelson, Susan (Michael) Orlando, and Sharon (David) Deerwester.

Bob was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Sarita Blantz, and niece, Allison Blantz.

Bob will be especially remembered for his thoughtful gift-giving and his love of a good joke!
