1948 – 2023

Robin “Rob” Copeland, 74, of Peoria passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 17, 2023 at 8:17 pm at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. His beloved wife Constance and three nieces Karen, Holly and Sydney were by his side.

He was born on September 23, 1948 to the late Charles E. Copeland Sr and Opalee (Smith) Copeland in Peoria, IL.

Rob married Constance L. (Grayeb) Barger on November 17, 1979 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL. by the Reverend Dr. Bruce W. Dunn. She survives. He is also survived by his 98-year-old mother Opalee Copeland of Peoria; brother Charles E. (Brenda) Copeland of Palm Bay, FL; sister Lisa G. Mason of Charleston, IL; step-son Jack (Robin) Barger of Lacon, IL; “Bonus” grandchildren Justin (Kristen) Barger, Jenny Barger, Carson (Ryan) Wetsel, Blaine (Morgan) Barger and Blake (Taylor) Barger; and many “bonus” great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles E. Copeland Sr and stepson Vincent Barger.

Rob proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971 and had tours of duty upon the USS Intrepid (CVS – 10) and on the USS Yorktown (CVS – 11). Rob loved his Navy days and honorably served his country. Rob worked in the dairy business for many years, first for Sealtest Dairy and then for Prairie Farms Dairy in Peoria until his retirement.

He enjoyed his family times, traveling, cookouts, reading, bible studies and listening to various preachers. He liked football and cheered on the Green Bay Packers team.

His wife Connie wishes to extend a special thank you to his helpful caregivers over the last couple of years, Karen Worner, niece; Vickie and Dave Blackford, family friend; Tom Austin, family friend; Cheryl Kirkham, family friend; and all of the OSF Hospice Team.

A graveside burial service will be held on Thursday February 23, 2023 at 1pm at Springdale Cemetery with Military Rites. Pastor Aaron Copeland will officiate. There will be no visitation. A private family visitation will be at noon at Cumerford-Clary Funeral Home.
