1933-2024
Andy Flores, husband, father, grandfather, and good friend passed from earth on Saturday, December 14, 2024. He was 91 years old.
Andy was born in San Francisco in 1933. His parents were Vicente Flores and Maria Flores (Solis). He was the youngest of three children. At a young age his family moved to Crockett, Ca. He went to public elementary school and St. Vincent’s High School. He worked at C&H sugar factory with his father.
He joined the Navy and spent four years in the Pacific. He was stationed on the USS Yorktown where he worked as a photographer. After the Navy and thanks to the GI Bill, Andy went to San Jose State. He went to work for the County of Santa Clara as a probation officer. In the early 70’s he worked with the county OR program. During this time he also received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
In 1960 he married Patt Watson. The went on to have 5 children; Mary Seidman (Mark), Joe (Laurie), Tom (Erin), Steven (Clare), and Greg (Paula). Andy had 10 grandchildren; Eric, Rachel, Michaela, Jenna, Nikki, Tanyr, Gabriella, Bryce, and Braeden.
If you knew Andy, you knew he was a huge sports fan. He loved the SF Giants, 49ers, Warriors and of course, the SJSU Spartans. He also loved all types of music and always had the radio going.
In retirement, Andy and Patt traveled all over the USA in a 5th wheel trailer. They also traveled to Europe, went on cruises, and made an annual trek to Mazatlan, Mexico, Andy’s home away from home. Andy was gregarious and charming. He loved to meet new people. He will be so missed by his family and friends. A funeral mass will be held Friday, January 3 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church located at 5111 San Felipe Rd. in San Jose.
