HEDBERG, Floyd A., 93, of Glen Allen, died December 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond. He was born on January 29, 1922, in Kingsbury County, S.D. to Aron and Martha Hedberg. He graduated from Lake Preston High School and attended South Dakota State University, until leaving to join the U.S. Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as a carrier pilot in the Pacific Theater, flying off the USS Lexington and then the USS Yorktown, to participate in the battles of Okinawa, Iwo Jima and others. After the war, he graduated from the University of Virginia. The majority of his career was with Philip Morris, USA in research, quality control and purchasing. After his retirement in 1984, he pursued his life-long interest in woodworking, making beautiful antique reproduction furniture. He returned to South Dakota every fall to hunt pheasant.
