HAZELTON, RICHARD

1924 – 2024

Richard Franklin Hazelton of Sequim, Washington, shed his earthly tent (2nd Corinthians 5:1) and replaced it with his eternal mansion (John 14:2) on September 23, 2024, in beautiful Sequim, Washington.??

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, where his ashes will be spread next to his beloved wife’s and his loved ones will surround them.??

Richard was born October 9, 1924, in San Bernardino, California, to James and Ruth Hazelton. He was a well-educated man, earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University and briefly attended MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).??A WW II veteran, Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard CV-10 Yorktown, in the Pacific Theater as one of its ship photographers. One of his war photographs was seen worldwide in the Washington Post.??

Richard loved his career as a Chemical Engineer. Even though he officially retired in the early 1990s, it was common to see him take an active interest in work projects of his like-minded son-in- law Robert.?Richard is survived by his three children, Mark, Ellen, and James; seven grandchildren, Zack, Zoe, Marshall, Molly, Noah, Timothy, and Joy; and three loving in-laws, Monica, Robert, and Charity.??

Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ruth Hazelton, wife of 58 beautiful years whom he loved to tell his friends about.?His family members and friends will greatly miss him.??
