HUGGETT, CHARLES

1933 – 2025

Charles (Chuck) Huggett passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 91. Chuck was born May 30, 1933. The fifth of seven sons born to Henry and Hazel Huggett (Hazel really wanted a daughter). Chuck was a lifelong resident of Marshall. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1953.

After high school, Chuck joined the US Navy, attended basic school in San Diago, California, specialty school at Great Lakes Navel Training Center, Chicago, Illinois and was stationed at Alameda, California aboard the USS Yorktown (CVA-10). Chuck spent four years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a Life member and former Post Commander of the Marshall VFW Post #4073.

On February 6, 1954 he married Marcelline Finnegan in Albion. Together they raised six children in Marshall. After discharge from the Navy, Chuck returned to Marshall and worked construction for a short period with his father and brothers. In 1961 he went to work for Kellogg and was employed there for 32 years.

While working at Kellogg, Chuck found an interest in photography. He and his wife, Marce, operated Wedding Partners for several years. Chuck took wedding photographs and Marce making wedding cakes. Chuck photographed several hundred weddings, in addition to portrait photography while continuing to work at Kellogg’s.

The large Huggett and Finnegan family were an important part of their lives. Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, woodworking and anything outdoors. After retirement Chuck and Marce enjoyed extensive travel, visiting all 50 states as well as several other countries. They wintered in Englewood, Florida for several years.

Chuck was active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall for several years. Most recently at St. John’s Catholic Church in Albion.

Chuck is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Marce (Finnegan) Huggett, a daughter, Marlene (Huggett) Doolittle, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his parents, HM and Hazel Huggett and all six of his brothers, Richard, Clarence, Russell, James, Kenneth and Thomas Huggett.

He is survived by children, Daniel Huggett, John (Paula) Huggett, Gregory (Krista) Huggett, Debora (Scot) Burmeister, Ronald (Bonnie) Huggett, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, Ron and Judy Althouse.
