MOORE, CARL

1933 – 2024

Carl Moore, 91, of Hayesville, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was a native of Clay County, the son of the late John Allen and Ethel Moore. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William Moore.
A lifelong resident of Clay County, Carl taught business classes at Hayesville High School and then began a long career at Tri-County Community College, retiring as dean of the college. In addition, he served as county manager of Clay County for four years.

In retirement, he authored the book “Clay County Then and Now.” For many years he was an active member of Hayesville First United Methodist Church, the Clay County Lions Club and American Legion Post 532.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Townley Moore; a son, Mark Moore and wife, Kathy; two grandchildren, Madison and Maxwell Moore; a sister, Hattie Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Hayesville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating.
