1926 -2022

Eldred E. (Al) Norris Jr our loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on June 11th, at his home surrounded by family. Al was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 6th 1926 and at the age of 14 his family left Iowa and moved to Southern California. The family, Mom, Dad and four sisters, settled in Hermosa Beach. He attended Redondo Union High School and at the age of 17 (on his birthday) he left school and joined the Navy in 1943 to help in the war effort. In 2003 he was granted a high school diploma from Redondo Union High School along with his business partner and best friend Paul Willoughby. He fought in the Pacific on the USS Yorktown. After his service he returned home to Hermosa Beach where he met our mother (Katherine Stark). They married in Las Vegas on September 5th 1946. Soon the kids arrived, John, Nancy and Ron. He became a general contractor and formed the Willoughby Norris Construction company. This company later became the Norris and Sons Construction Company. He continued working until he was 88 years old. Al loved work and only retired when he was unable to continue the rigorous physical demands of the job. Al’s wife Katie passed in 1997, he will be laid to rest next to her at green hills Cemetery. He leaves behind his four children, 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Along with many relatives and great friends.
