PETERSON, CARL H

World War II Gunner’s Mate, Carl Peterson, 101, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He was born in South Beloit, IL on September 9, 1921 to Carl and Emma Peterson. He married Harriet Grimborg in 1943 while in the U.S. Navy in Savannah, Georgia. They had four sons, Dannie, Barry, Fred and Steven. He graduated from Tri-State College in 1949 in Angola, Indiana. He was employed by Illinois National Bank & Trust for over 29 years and retired in 1971 as Vice President.

Carl loved to play golf, fish and bowl for most of his life. He was a 50 year member of the Shriners and Masons in Angola, Indiana and a 71 year member of the VFW Belvidere Post and the American Legion Post.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial with military honors in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6202 Charles Street, Rockford, IL 61108.
