Edward John Joyeusaz
1925-2026
Edward John Joyeusaz was born on October 31, 1925, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the son of Napoleon Charles Joyeusaz and Adele C. Lenoire. Edward graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, Delaware, and joined the Navy at 17, heroically serving on the USS Yorktown as a signalman in the South Pacific during WWII.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling the world to catch 1000-pound Black Marlin in Peru and Australia and 1000-pound Giant Bluefin Tunas in Nova Scotia, Canada. Ed was the Captain of the US Tuna team that won the Sharps Cup, the winner of the OCLTC Derbies, and participated in numerous other tournaments along the way, including the Masters Fishing Tournament. He was heavily involved in Ducks Unlimited and the Waterfowl Festival, serving as a host for Artists at his farm in St. Michaels, Maryland.
He loved and dedicated his life to All Saints Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland, for over 60 years, including a leadership role in building an addition to add the Family Life Center, which serves the Church, Boy Scouts Troop 52, and even a school to this day. He was a large part of Troop 52, which is one of the oldest troops in the US, with both of his sons achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Edward was a talented and competitive Card Player. As a member of the Columbia Country Club and the Metropolitan Club, he loved to play Bridge and Gin Rummy.
Edward met the love of his life, Ann Livingston Joyeusaz, and was married for over 70 years. He is survived by his three children, Edward John Joyeusaz, Jr. (Lisa Joyeusaz), Lois Livingston Joyeusaz (Jonathan W. Weisheit, deceased), and Richard Joyeusaz; and his grandchildren, Edward John Joyeusaz III, Natalie Ann Joyeusaz, and Madison Elizabeth Joyeusaz, Randall Harrington Weisheit (Mary).
