BERRY, GILBERT

1948 – 2024

Gilbert “Gil” Leon Berry passed at age 75 at his home in Lyndonville, Vt. His family was by his side.

Gil was born in Barton, Vt. on July 25, 1948 to the late George and Naomi (Gilman) Berry Sr. He was raised on the family farm in Sheffield, Vt. and married Frances Catanzarita on July 31, 1999.

Gil proudly served on the USS Yorktown during the Vietnam War. He worked for CN Brown, The Caledonian-Record and retired from RCT after 20 years as a bus driver.

Gil is survived by his loving wife Fran Berry; daughters Valerie Lauson of Palm Coast, Fla. and Vanessa Joyal of Conneaut, Ohio; son Brian Berry (Rochelle), Lyndonville; brother Gale Berry (Lorraine), Sutton, Vt.; sister Muriel Wooden (Lee) Red Hook, N.Y.; sister-in-law Nancy Berry Sheffield, Vt. Also nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister in-law Mary Catanzarita, Barnet, Vt. and dear friends Cherie and Rick Fournier of Greer, S.C.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers George, Gordon, Gardner, Gayland and Graydon, sisters Verna Snelling (Ronnie) and Hazel Hirsch. Also son-in-law Chris Joyal.

Per Gil’s request, there will be no calling hours or service. The family would like to thank the wonderful Hospice nurse from NCHC and the VA Home Based Primary Care from Littleton, N.H.
