GALLOP, DAVID

1940 – 2023

David F Gallop Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 5, 1940, in Manhattan, NY, to the late David & Evelyn Gallop, he was born and raised in NYC until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1957. After his time in the Navy, he returned to NYC, where he met the love of his life, Theodora Calamaras. They married on September 8th, 1962. 7 years later, David moved his family to Upstate NY where they settled in the village of Scotia. He became chief of police at the Watervliet Arsenal, where he worked for many years. After retiring from the arsenal, he worked at ATC Environmental until he finally retired at 75 years young. David was always busy. Even after falling ill, he could not sit still. He was also a lifelong member of the Elks and enjoyed attending many of their functions.

David was predeceased by his son, David F Gallop Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theodora Gallop; brother, Raymond (Emma) Gallop; children, William (Anne-Marie) Gallop, Demetria (Stephen) Enright, Athena Gallop, Christopher (Alexis) Gallop; grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Karley Enright, Cheyenne Gallop, Marina Clooney, Billy Franolich, Aubrey Gallop, Ella & Lucas Gallop & Alex Zarrelli, and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday May 13, 2023, at The White Funeral Home, Scotia, from 11 am-1 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1pm.
