1924 – 2023

Kenneth W. Hansen, 99, of Ft. Myers, passed away on August 28, 2023, at home in Ft. Myers.

Memorial Service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, Sept. 5, St. Michael Lutheran Church and will be available Livestream, www.smlcftmyers.com. Service can be viewed live or at your convenience later.

Ken was born in St. Paul, MN to Charles Robert Hansen and Katherine Beaton Hansen on July 28, 1924. He graduated from Central High School and the University of Minnesota.

He married the love of his life, Evalynne Brauninger on June 6, 1948, The House of Hope Presbyterian Church, St. Paul MN, and were married 57 years.

He worked as a CPA and later as Vice President of Finance with United Telephone Co. of Florida. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and served in the Navy; receiving gold wings and commissioned as a Naval Aviator. He retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Senior Grade. He knew at a young age he wanted to become a Navy pilot. He enjoyed his family and friends, golfing, sailing, sailplaning, and reading.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Katherine Hansen, his wife Evalynne, and his brothers and their wives: Robert (Diana) Hansen, Walter (Jean) Hansen and James (Audrey) Hansen and very special friend, Betty Anderson.

Ken is survived by his son William (Teresa) Hansen, daughter Julie (Lee) Berchtold, son Scott Hansen, grandchildren: Kevin (Kristy) Offerman, Darin Offerman, Justin (Candy) Offerman, Shelley (Scott Damron) Hansen and Ryan Hansen. Great Grandchildren: Gabby Offerman, Brice Offerman, Kameron Offerman and Kyle Offerman and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Michael Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to St. Michael Lutheran Church, Hope Hospice and Abby Services who provided special caregivers who assisted Ken in recent weeks.
