WISE, JOHN
1938 – 2025
John E. Wise, 86, of Republic, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.
John was born June 26, 1938, in Tiffin, to the late Charles E. and Mary (Lumen) Wise. He married Janet (Whipple) in Republic on January 28, 1961 and she preceded him in death on August 8, 2020.
Survivors include his son, Douglas (Brenda) Wise of Tiffin, his daughter, Tricia (Denny) Bowerman of Republic, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a sister, Charlotte Boltz of Mount Cory, OH.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Chuck and Harry Wise and a sister, Marijane Legron.
John worked as the maintenance general foreman for Whirlpool in Clyde and also at Seneca County Commission on Aging. He was a 1956 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. John was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1956 until 1960. He was a 4-H Horse Club Advisor and a Cub Scouts Den Master for many years. John enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, reading, woodworking and playing games.
Funeral services for John will be held at noon, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Saturday, at Seneca Memory Gardens with Military Rites being rendered by the United Veterans Council.
