PINION, ANTHONY

1927 – 2024

Anthony James “Tony” Pinion, 97, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, Friday evening, May 3, 2024, at his home.

Tony was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Warren, a son of John and Catherine Spatafore Pinion.

He attended Warren G. Harding High School before being drafted into the United States Navy. During his time of service, Tony was stationed on the U.S.S. Yorktown and was awarded an honorable discharge. Upon returning home, Tony worked for Republic Steel for many years until his retirement.

Outside of work, golf was Tony’s passion. In his lifetime, he made a hole-in-one three times and was a regular at Cranberry Hills Course in Champion. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cavs and Browns.

Tony liked to stay well-informed and was always learning new things. He would always ask those in the room to look up answers to questions on Google. Tony was a well-dressed man and enjoyed listening to jazz music. He was also the number one fan of his brother-in-law’s band, the Paul Trina Band. Most of all, family was everything to Tony. Whether it was talking on the phone or sharing their set weekly lunch, Tony cherished his family and close friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tony will always be remembered by his children, Annette (Russell) Zampino of Warren, Lisa Hayda of Florida and Rick Harris of Mineral Ridge; grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Blair, Elizabeth Hayda, Jenni (Joe) Jarman and Jordy Harris; great-grandchildren, Willow Blair, Kaleb Harris and Josie Jarman; sister, Mary Trina; brothers, John and Jim Pinion; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Pinion; son-in-law, Bruce Hayda; sister, Flora (Wilbur) Snelbaker; brother, William (Mary) Pinion; and brother-in-law, Paul Trina.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Tony 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 6 p.m.
